it’s been a while since my last review – no excuses other than i’ve just not had the mental energy or time to sit and write! i’ve been sat on this set for ages now – so long that it’s actually dropped into sale and there’s now a new colour available… but this was definitely my most requested review so here she is.
first of all, i want to start this off by saying how happy i am that scantilly are continuously creating designs like this specifically for the fuller busted babes amongst us, and that it’s at an affordable price point all things considered. i see similar designs in luxury lines that are just way out of my price range, and then i see similar designs from more affordable brands – but of course they’re more often than not in the core size range and stop at a D, maybe a DD cup. there’s no way i’m fitting my 28Gs into a core size!
scantilly’s heart throb bra is listed as a plunge style, and the wires typically do follow a plunging shape with a low centre front, but of course it isn’t a traditional plunge bra and instead has a bit of a half cup shape to the bottom section of the cups. the high neck design is just stunning and surprisingly comfortable, and i love the keyhole cut out at the cleavage. i am aware of the ring where the straps join at the throat, but it doesn’t cause me any discomfort and it is barely noticeable after a while. i would think if you have shorter shoulders though it may sit at a more uncomfortable level and dig in a bit more, so do bare that in mind. the straps are fully adjustable and despite the halterneck look, they actually go over the shoulder like a traditional bra.
as always, i have to sister size to get into it since the brand starts from a 30 band, so i’ve gone for typical scantilly size of 30FF. the cups feel true to size, but they do feel a little shallow and seem to flatten my bust a little where the horizontal seam sits. i wouldn’t want to size up in the cup for extra depth as the wires would come too far around my sides, but if you’re very projected or centre-full i’d suggest trying a cup size up from usual. because of the shape of the cup and the extended high neck design, i feel like you can get away with the cups being a smidge shallow as the breast tissue will still be contained – as long as it’s clear of the underwires, of course – and it doesn’t seem to create any overspill or bulging. the cups are non-padded, instead lined with a soft mesh that helps shape and lift your breasts, and the top section with the beautiful floral embroidery is a sheer, lightweight tulle.

the band is a touch on the firm side, likely in part due to it being a black mesh and possibly also the shape of the cups making it feel firmer, with less stretch overall than other scantilly styles. as someone who typically wears a 28 band, i often wear a 30 band bra on the tightest hooks to begin with and they tend to wear out pretty quickly, but this is comfortably fitted when fastened on the middle hooks, and is holding out pretty well despite regular wear. if you prefer a looser band or are in-between sizes, i’d suggest that you go for the larger band size for the best fit. the bra is available in scantilly’s typical 30-40 DD-HH size range.
one question i get a lot about this bra is ‘how do you style it/what do you wear it with?’ and to that i answer ‘however you want’. wear it under a turtle neck jumper and hide it as something just for you to know about; style it with a slash-neck or off-the-shoulder top to give a little peek at the beautiful floral embroidery; or make it the statement piece under a deep v-neck and show it off!
the matching coordinate is a high waist brief which, while gorgeous, just isn’t really my style. i much prefer a lower rise brief as i find high waist knickers to be uncomfortable under jeans and can only really wear them under a loose fitting dress. it does compliment the bra though, and i feel like the simple fishnet look with small details at the hips balances the look with the embroidery-heavy bra. the back is super cheeky with a flattering brazilian cut to the leg edges, and a wide open cut-out fastened by a rose gold swan hook. i took my usual size small (UK 8/10) and found that this didn’t quite sit as it was supposed to, it did bag out a little to begin with where my waist is much slimmer than my hips and bum, but after a wash it seems to have tightened up a little and sits a lot better now! the heart throb brief is available in sizes S-XL.

overall i feel super secure and supported in this gorgeous little set, and i love the layering and styling opportunities. i love that designs like these are becoming more readily available for DD+ cups, it is so refreshing to have something that not only looks gorgeous and is so on trend, but actually fits and supports bigger boobs too!
the heart throb set originally retailed at £48 for the bra and £27 for the brief, but is now available at just HALF that – coming in at £24 and £14 – or £38* for the whole set. what a bargain! is this a scantilly set you’d like to try? i can’t wait to get my hands on the blush version too!
