the late night liaison body* from lovehoney was gifted to me. all thoughts and opinions are my own and, as always, entirely uninfluenced.
lovehoney are well known for their array of sex toys and accessories but they also have a collection of gorgeous lovehoney lingerie* too. i have had my eye on a few beautiful sets of theirs over the last couple of years but i am always a little hesitant to try the ‘one size fits all’ kinds of lingerie because, being a smaller frame with a fuller bust, these tend to not work so well… but let’s get into the details of the beautiful ‘late night liaison‘* body in a stunning icy blue hue (now sold out, but available in a chic navy).
the look
lovehoney’s late night liaison range* is made up of gorgeous sheer lace bodies and babydolls in black, pink, light blue and navy blue. i chose the paler blue because it’s not a colour you see so often in ‘sexy’ lingerie, and is something a bit different to your typical black, red and pink sets. the lace is cut with scalloped edging, and features a graphic floral pattern that feels romantic and elegant.
a low plunging neckline features strap detail that sits right in your cleavage, meeting semi-adjustable straps that cross over at the back. there are additional straps to the hips which help hold the crotchless structure in place and add a sexier twist, and the back is cut in a g-string shape which joins an ultra-high leg cut that sits right above the hips.
overall the late night liaison body* is a pretty simple design in a basic deep v-neck and high leg body shape, but the beautiful lace and added strap details add a really lovely finishing touch to this piece. the matching babydoll in the range features the same top section with the deep v-neck in soft lace and cross-back straps, joining a sheer mesh skirt that skims the hips.
the fit
labelled as a ‘one size’ piece to fit sizes 8-16, i was slightly skeptical about how this would fit me. was it perfect? no – definitely not – but it’s comfortable and sexy and does the job of being a piece of bedroom lingerie! the lace itself is soft and stretchy so it would easily flex to fit up to a size 16 as listed, and the straps have a decent length of adjustability. i found the dart shaping in the bust area was just a little bit off for me, and caused the lace to bag out a little bit rather than sitting flush against my chest but, as this isn’t something i’d be wearing out or or support, not a big deal breaker for me.
the crotchless design was surprisingly comfortable – i often find myself wanting to constantly adjust the straps in other ouvert brief styles, but this seemed to stay in place and was unnoticeable. i was disappointed to see that the hip straps are non-adjustable, but they do have a small amount of stretch to them.
as i touched on previously the lace is super stretchy and soft, so even if you have quite a curvy body with a smaller waist and larger hips/bust, it will fit to your shape quite comfortably without digging in. there’s also a plus size option which fits sizes 18-24 and looks identical in design. the support to my 28G bust is minimal, and i do find myself falling out of the deep plunge neckline, but let’s be honest – this isn’t exactly intended to be worn for modesty and support!
the verdict
is this lovehoney* body something i’d wear day to day? no, but it isn’t designed to be. this is very much a bedroom piece, something you’d slip into after getting back from date night when you go to ‘freshen up’ in the bathroom. if i really wanted to wear it out, i’d probably layer it up over a bra in a similar colour so i’d still be supported while looking sexy af.
the quality and finishing is in line with what i’d expect for the price point of £29.99 – not luxury, but gentle on the skin and finished with tidy, neat stitching so there’s no scratchy bits of thread. it also doesn’t feel like it would rip very easily, which is always a bonus!
this was my first experience of lovehoney’s lingerie* and it definitely exceeded my expectations. if you’re unsure about them, give them a go! just remember – they’re not made for all day, every day support like regular bras and knickers so try not to compare them to your normal undies.
