lingerie review: celine strappy bra and thong – gorteks

AD: pr sample
the celine lingerie set by gorteks was gifted to me by amber noir lingerie in exchange for a social media post, with no obligation to write a full review. all thoughts & opinions are my own and are entirely uninfluenced.

today i’m bringing another new brand to the lingerie princess – gorteks! they’re not a new brand in the industry, but they are new to me. i’ve always been interested to try polish lingerie brands, as they’re commonly said to have narrower cups with more projection – which is what i need as i often find bras in my size are a tad too wide. the lovely ‘celine’ set was gifted to me by amber noir lingerie – an independent online lingerie store, run by one lovely lady in wales. i’m a sucker for anything with straps, so this was a perfect set for me to try out. i was gifted the padded bra and brief in 30FF and 12.

the look

i love the look of this set – it’s simple enough to be worn as everyday, but the added strapping detailing makes it subtly sexy. the fabric is really pretty with shimmering dots, making it stand out from the basic black styles out there. it’s a simple bra shape in a classic balconette shape, offering medium coverage with a foam padding. the overbust strapping detail on the bra is simple enough to be worn peeking out under a v-neck top without looking too intense and can add a nice little twist to a casual outfit, while the back boasts some strappy detail to the band to carry through the design perfectly. the brief is cut in a classic knicker shape, with added strap detail that matches the bra perfectly.

the fit

the celine padded bra is a great fit in 30FF. the band is nice and comfortable on the middle hook (remember, my underbust is 27″ and i tend to wear a 28G where it is available) and the cups are a great fit. i know many polish brands use a slightly different cup size system to the UK (2cm per cup, instead of the average 2.54cm – meaning the bigger the cup size, the more obvious the difference is as you lose .5cm per size) but i’m not sure if gorteks are one of these brands. i do get a slight bit of digging in at the neckline on my larger breast, but this is not enough for me to consider going up a cup size. the width of the wires is perfect, sitting right along my breast root without reaching too far back. i also love that the overbust straps are adjustable with a slider, meaning you can adjust it to fit your bust whether you’re very full or a bit flatter up top.

the cup is made from a simple 3-part construction, in soft foam with cotton lining for comfort. it gives a nice rounded, uplifted shape with good projection too. the straps all sit nice and flat – i could do with the shoulder straps being just a tad thicker, but overall they are comfortable and they get bonus points for being fully adjustable.

the brief is an okay fit in a size 12, but i could have sized down to a 10 if it were available, so i would say it runs nicely true to size. the straps on the brief join at the centre of the waistband at both the front and back, and are nicely stretchy so they don’t dig in too much. they can be worn at a height that feels best for you, or even around your hips so they’re sitting on the brief for a simpler look. the straps do have a tendency to flip and fold when you move, but i’ve not yet found a strappy brief that doesn’t do this and it doesn’t feel uncomfortable. the gusset is a nice length, and the fabrics are soft with a moderate amount of coverage.

the verdict

the gorteks brand are definitely one i’ll be looking into for more styles. their size range isn’t the widest, this particular style i believe goes up to an FF cup, but they do carry smaller cup sizes and up to a 42 back. the quality of this set is really nice, it feels sturdy and well made and the fabrics are soft, with comfortable stitching too. it can be tricky to find polish lingerie in the UK, so if you’re looking for something from the gorteks brand be sure to check out amber noir lingerie and support a lovely independent business. the set also washes well, even in the machine (i know, i’m terrible…) which i’m pleased to see, as i thought the shimmery dot pattern might rub off or fade.

have you tried any polish brands before? i’m really keen to try out some more!

xo, tlp
