[AD / pr sample] the neon moon mona set was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.
hey everyone, i’m really excited to bring this post to you today! a few weeks ago, the gorgeous bunch at neon moon invited me to become an ambassador for them and i couldn’t say no. they kindly sent me the beautiful mona set to review.
so let’s get down to it. neon moon are one of those brands that have been on my radar for a LONG time but i’ve just sadly never got around to trying – until now! their imagery and message is so positive and uplifting, and i’m so glad to say i own a set of their badass underwear now.
i was sent the mona set in medium for both the top and bottom. the key thing i noticed was the lack of elasticity in the fabric – it’s a very snug medium due to this. this works out at a UK size 10 based on their size guide, and based on that it’s very true to size on me as someone who is slap bang between an 8 and a 10. i am used to a medium being more of a 12 than a 10, though, so that might be worth baring in mind if you consider purchasing.

the bra is really comfortable, though it is ever so slightly too small on my 28G bust. i don’t think it’s a perfect match for gals with a fuller bust, i’d have to be careful if i wore it out and about, but it’s SO comfortable to wear lounging around the house. if you’re a DD+ cup i’d probably suggest sizing up in the bra to get some extra boob room – i think i’d go for the large (equivalent to a 12) in their products going forward, but it could just be that this piece is made up of a non-stretch mesh making it fit a tad snug. the bandeau/crop top style of the top really adds support and stops my bust from completely spilling out, so this is probably one of the better shapes to try if you’re fuller busted. i also love that the straps adjust at the front rather than the back – it makes it quite easy to adjust and would be great for those with disabilities or limited movement. i know how fiddly it can be trying to adjust straps that are at the back of a bra, especially with a dodgy left wrist after breaking it a couple of years ago!

the knickers are also ultra comfortable, i have so many pairs of high waist briefs that i don’t often wear just because they’re not massively practical under the clothes i tend to choose, but these are definitely going to be getting some regular outings! again they’re not very elasticated so i did have to take care pulling them up (the tops of my thighs and my butt are a bit wider than the rest of me!) but once they’re on – oh my word. the mesh not being very stretchy makes them feel so secure and they’re a great fit on my waist which makes a change. it’s like all the support and comfort of a ‘control brief’ without the restrictive feeling! usually i find high waisted briefs bag out around my waist so it’s amazing to me that they fit so snugly! do bear that in mind though, again it might just be the way this style fits due to the fabric but if you’re bigger on the bottom or between sizes then i’d consider taking a size up.

this set is currently available up to XXL (16), with sizes up to 6XL (24) on pre-order for november 2018! while it isn’t the biggest size range, it’s definitely a great step forward for a relatively small and new lingerie company and is a lot better than some of the options already out there. i would love to see them expand their size range even more going forward, and it would be amazing if they could consider introducing bras that cater for fuller busts too.
overall this is a simple, cute and stylish set that does what it says on the tin. i love the polka dots, they’re not too small and not oversized so it gives a great style and it feels really well made.
